The Friends of St Leonard’s

The Friends of St Leonard’s is for everyone who cares for the beauty and traditions of this grade II listed building church building, whether or not they are resident in Turners Hill. Whilst many members of the regular church congregation have become members, the Friends was specifically set up by Anwyn Daniels to enable a much broader range of individuals and businesses to contribute and to have a say in how funds are spent. Many people who live in Turners Hill, work here or visit are concerned to see that we pass on our village church to future generations in the same good condition that we received it from our forebears.

Our heritage and its maintenance

Whilst a relatively recent church building, consecrated in 1895, successive generations have cared for the church, but there are no large endowments and the cost of maintenance must be met by raising funds locally. St Leonard’s has to be inspected every five years by a diocesan architect who recommends spending that he considers necessary and sets the priorities. The need for repairs may also arise due to the effects of unforeseen events, such as storm damage and other "weather events".
